Recruiting Areas

The main recruiting area of 4 Platoon KOSB is the town of Hamilton. However, our recruiting area also includes Blantyre, Uddingston and Bothwell.                    

Parade Times

A Parade Night is simply a time when the cadets meet and train. This takes place twice a week at 4 Platoon. We meet on a Monday and Wednesday Evening from 1900 hours to 2145 hours.

Shooting Practice also takes place on a Saturday Morning, however, YOU MUST BE AN EXISTING MEMBER TO TAKE PART IN SHOOTING PRACTICE.   

Costs

4 Platoon receives funding from the TAVRA and the Kings Own Scottish Borderers. This means the Army Cadet Force is an inexpensive organisation to be a member of. Each Parade Night costs only 30 pence per person per night.

RENTAL of a full uniform which will cover your full time in the cadets costs‚ £13.00, with £5.00 refundable on return of the uniform. The most expensive item you will have to buy as a cadet is Boots. These can range in price from £30.00 to £50.00. More expensive boots are available but are not needed for use in the ACF.      

Training Camps

At 4 Platoon, there is at least one Training Camp every 2 months. Often, these are free if they are run by the battalion. However, detachment and company weekends cost £5.00 and last 3 days.

Easter Camp and September Camp last 4 days and include every ACF detachment in the battalion. These cost £10.00.

Annual Camp is held in the summer and lasts for 2 weeks. The usual cost for this is £35.00 +/- £5.00. There are also many other exchange visits available but costs of these vary.
